2 More 6-Man $6 Games

Not a great first game. Finished out of the money in 5th. Was doing pretty well in the 2nd game. Down to the final three, put another guy all in with the best hand, and got crushed on the river. Put me down to $385 with blinds at 75/150 and the other two guys with stacks around 6000 and 1500. Several double ups later I WON the F$%^er! Excuse my french.

Pokerstars $6 - 6 Man Game

Also tried a $6 - 6 man NL tournament tonight. Top 2 places get paid. 1st-$23.40. 2nd-$12.60. Ended up finishing 2nd. Was all in and needed a heart to win it all but couldn't get one on the turn or river.

Pokerstars $5 Game

While I was on my 'sabbatical' Pokerstars did away with their 'Double or Nothing' format games. They are now doing what they call "Fifty50" games. It is still a 10 person table and the top 5 still get paid. But, the $50 pot is divided up as $5 for each survivor PLUS .16 cents for every 100 chips you have left. It's interesting, but I'm not sure I'm going to like it. It definitely plays for the aggressor. However, it will take a lot longer to build up a bankroll if you aren't finishing in the top 2 or 3 positions every time. Anyway, I tried one out that went incredibly quickly...lasting 12 minutes! Maybe that was a weird game, but the previous 'Double or Nothing' games were usually in the 45-60mins range. Maybe that's why Pokerstars ditched them...more games, more money (for them!). Played the two hands in which I was in the blinds (didn't win either) and came away with $7.35. That's a nice $2 profit! :-P

Big Slick

Small update for the Big Slick weekly game...

The league started up again 5 weeks ago, but I've only made one event due to various family and laziness reasons. :-)

However, I did have a very memorable hand when I did play! Here's the scenario...

My cards had been sucking hard for over an hour since we began. The only 2 or 3 pots I won were pure bluffs and my original stack of 5000 had come down to 4000. Doesn't sound too bad, but meanwhile everyone else is slowly building their own stacks. Anyway, there are 5 people left at my table and the short stack is on the button...I'm in the big blind for 400 already. Everyone folds to the short stack who goes all in for his last 1200. The small blind folds. I think for a long time about my lowly 2-3 off suit. I'm already in for 400...the cards have not been going my way...maybe its time to get lucky...or go home. So, I eventually make the ridiculous call figuring at least I'll two live cards. The button turns over a Q - 10 off suit and the semi-race is on.

First card on the flop...a 3!! Things are looking good!

Second card on the flop...a Q!! The tides have turned back.

Third card on the flop...another 3!! Sweet! Can only be beaten by another Q now!

Turn card...a 2! Full House! But, another Q will still beat me with a higher full house. Can you guess what's next?

River card...Yup. A Queen. Just an indication of how my night went.

Got everything in a few hands later with J-10 suited against 7-7 and made the early exit.

Current Standings...I've got a long way to come back!

1. John 3450
2. Ken 3050
3. Larry 2850
4. Katherine 2700
15. Dave 150 (not a typo)
